Testimonials

I felt so confident with the dimensional analysis. I think I am going to stick to this method only. I felt that I mastered the topic we covered yesterday during our first session . I found it engaging and beneficial as well. I am excited to start the complex calculation problems. I am also planning to take few classes on the clinical portion of the exam since I like your teaching method very much 🙂

I thought today's session went awesome! I feel more confident in this chapter . The questions really got me thinking through each possible option making sure I could reason for why/ why not it would be answer instead being overwhelmed if I wasn't confident in answer. The select all apply questions too were really helpful!

How Long is the Naplex?

In order to incorporate more content addressing the variety of clinical scenarios and pharmaceutical preparation techniques seen in pharmacy practice, the NAPLEX’s duration was expanded in November 2016. As a result, there were 225 exam items instead of 185, and the test’s duration was increased from 4 hours and 15 minutes to 6 hours.

The exam now has 220 questions and a 6-hour testing period. 25 of the 225 questions are pretests, which won’t affect your final score.

What is the Naplex Passing Score?

The NAPLEX has a minimum scaled passing score of 75 and a maximum score of 150. This score should not be taken as the proportion of correct answers because it is NOT a percentage value. A mathematically based weighted scoring model that calculates an ability measure for each examinee and converts it to a scale ranging from 0 to 150 determines the candidate’s score.

What Topics Does the Naplex Cover?

According to the NABP NAPLEX Bulletin, the subjects covered in the exam are of 6 main areas:

  1. Finding, interpreting, or evaluating data, medical information, or patient information (18% of the test)
  2. Describing Drug Characteristics (14% of the test)
  3. Developing or overseeing treatment plans (around 35% of the test)
  4. Performing calculations (14% of the test)
  5. Compounding, distributing, or administering medications, or managing delivery systems (11% of the test)
  6. Developing or overseeing practice or drug-use systems to guarantee safety and quality (7% of the test)
